Following the success of Rock the Schools, School Tours Australia is launching a new tour in 2010. Fashion Roll Call is a FREE entertainment and educational in-school program aimed at inspiring high school students around Australia. Along with a fashion parade for the whole school, the tour will uncover the diverse range of careers pathways in the Fashion Industry through workshops facilitated by official education partner, Whitehouse Institute of Design, Australia, covering styling and fashion business. Students will also have senior make up artists from NP Set Cosmetics on hand to take them through a make up workshop with models supplied by Chadwick.
Fashion Roll Call will launch its seven week tour on the 15th July 2010 covering 32 all-girls high schools in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. School Tours Australia’s General Manager, Nikki Smith, is excited to be launching another tour with the aim of inspiring future fashionistas.
“It has always been part of our mantra at School Tours to evolve the concept into other parts of the creative industry sector and fashion was definitely a firm favourite amongst the feedback we had been receiving from students and teachers. This really is a great opportunity for brands to partner and align with a new and unique tour that targets and engages with a captive teenage audience in schools. Partners already signed on are NP Set Cosmetics, Chadwick Models and Whitehouse Institute of Design along with media partners Habbo and Girlfriend Magazine. Our existing tour, Rock the Schools and its partners have been inspiring the next generation of music industry professionals all over the country and we are excited for a busy 2010 with the 5th anniversary of Rock the Schools and the launch of Fashion Roll Call.”
Official education partner Whitehouse Institute of Design will open the student’s eyes to career options within the fashion industry, and a behind the scenes look at staging a major fashion event! The fashion business workshop will educate senior students about the various careers within the fashion industry such as design, publicity, event management and marketing. The styling workshop will provide students with hands-on experience in styling models for the fashion parade and the chance to see what is really involved in being a fashion stylist.
Official make up partner, NP Set Cosmetics, will present the make up artistry workshop prior to the parade where students will have the opportunity to see the senior artists work their magic on the models as well as make up hints and tips for school formals, everyday and job interviews.
To further extend the reach of the tour to more than just the 32 high schools and close the gap between the students and the fashion industry, fashionrollcall.com.au, has been launched ahead of the tour and will be live all year round. The social media site has the ability for students to upload their own designs, photographs and ideas that can be commented and rated on by professionals in the fashion industry and their own peers. The website has up-to-date industry news, an online community and access to the workbooks and workshops that are delivered in each school.
Long term media partners of Rock the Schools, Habbo and Girlfriend Magazine will also be supporting Fashion Roll Call along with a dedicated PR campaign.
